FirstLight Fiber, a facilities-based telecommunications service provider operating in Upstate New York and Northern New England, recently announced its partnership with Maine Fiber Company. As per the terms of the agreement, customers located along Maine Fiber Company's existing fiber infrastructure will now be able to access next generation IP services from FirstLight Fiber.

FirstLight Fiber's unique architecture deployed regionally in a ring format enables each of the regions to operate independently. This network design will improve the resiliency of the network, which will route Internet traffic redundantly over the fiber network thus creating two different meshed core networks. The architecture will not allow for even a single point of failure within these core networks. Further, the multiple peering points within the Internet transit path will route the traffic over the best available direct path, thus ensuring high performance and continuous access. The company also provides 24/7 support to its customers year round through its fully functional Network Operations Center located in New York.

"Working with MFC is a natural fit, allowing our companies to leverage each other's strengths to collectively offer the comprehensive solutions that benefit our mutual customers," added Patrick Coughlin, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for FirstLight.  "We are committed to providing this region with the reliable, scalable, high bandwidth services that are crucial to continued economic development.  By delivering our dedicated Internet access service over MFC's extensive fiber network, we are able to offer virtually unlimited bandwidth to businesses in this region."

In related news, New England-based Managed IT Services Provider SymQuest recently selected  FirstLight Fiber. The new partnership will allow SymQuest to rely on FirstLight Fiber's Vermont data center that promises to offer reliable, secure facilities and further support the expansion of its retail cloud division. The Vermont data center offers multiple safety, security, and power options and is connected to FirstLight's carrier grade, fiber optic network providing reliable, scalable bandwidth up to 100 Gbps.
