We are in the heart of fantasy baseball season, while many of you fantasy athletes have hung up the cleats for now impatiently waiting for football, I am one of the millions still hunting for a playoff birth. Primarily, I use CBSsports.com to host my fantasy leagues, and last night before bed I tried to sign in and see what sort of fantasy week I was looking at. The app didn’t work properly, it displayed incorrect scores; then this morning when I checked on desktop it appears the site’s fantasy sports section went down.
Thankfully, my CBS fantasy baseball league is weekly – so my lineup is set – but I feel for the players who can’t log in and access teams to make daily adjustments. Dropping the ball big time here CBS.
As you can see I’m logged in, but where those dashes are should be a list of my fantasy teams…rut roh! Standby, as there is more to come from this.
This isn’t the first hiccup for CBSsports, as back in April the sports firms’ app left millions of peoples’ personal information exposed. Security firm Wandera, noted the CBSsports App was transmitting emails addresses, account passwords, dates of birth, zipcodes and user names over an insecure connection. In addition, the login process was not encrypted, so user passwords and email addresses were not encrypted.
While the recent glitch is likely of internal doing, it is unclear if some hacker is simply having fun with the fantasy sports community. Only time will tell, but for now, deep breaths daily fantasy players, I’m sure it won’t be down too long!
Stay tuned.UPDATE: As of 5pm the mobile application appears to have restored full functionality, but the website is still not working properly.
