When I hear the two words Venice Beach, I think of a beautiful ocean front city that boasts a boardwalk like no other, where all sorts of people come together to take in the scenery, do some shopping, work out, or even panhandle. This week it was revealed that Google (News - Alert), a major search website, is beginning to hoard in on these beach lover’s space by filling prime real estate with its technology and sales employees. Body builders who flock to this location are none too pleased.

Perhaps one of the most well known body builders in the world, former ‘Governator” (governor + Terminator) Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was a well known face in the industry before becoming an actor and later entering politics, told The New York Times, “As soon as I walked in, they said: ‘You heard about Google? Why don’t you have your staff look into this? It’s this conspiracy theory: ‘Google is coming! They are going to take over and wipe out our bodybuilding.’ ”

It was back in November that Google initially relocated a large amount of employees into 100,000 square feet in two Venice buildings. And now, it has just been revealed that the organization will soon be inking a lease on another 100,000 square feet which includes a 31,000-square-foot area that is Gold’s Gym, or the place where bodybuilders go to pump some iron.

At this time, the company is stating via a spokesman that it is not taking over Gold’s, but Jerry Martin, a devoted gym fanatic isn’t falling for it and commented, “They’ll buy it, they’ll kick us out, and we’ll have to relocate.” Fellow health nut Nathanial Moon added, “And you can’t fight against Google, because they’ve got billions of dollars.”

With the ability to purchase almost the entire state of California if it was interested, it’s no secret why these men who spend more hours sweating it out with oversized weights than at home would be so distraught. A piece of advice for the search engine though, maybe scout out some other destination for real estate before the ‘roid rage of these extremely strong men is focused on you!
