One of the most popular makers of remote control and online meetings software has come up with a new app for the Windows 8. The new app, called Teamviewer Touch, will allow users to control any computer of their choosing over the Internet. TeamViewer has been making these kinds of apps for most mobile platforms, including iOS. The company’s apps have all performed pretty well and over a highly secure Internet connection.

The TeamViewer Touch application is one that has real cross-platform connectivity. While there are is a mobile app for Apple and Android (News - Alert), this particular application is a first when it comes to Windows 8. There are also full versions of the software for Windows computers as well as Macs and Linux. The application works quite a bit like a host of other mobile applications that allow you to log on to a remote computer using a username and password. This means that people who have a Windows computer and a Windows 8 tablet or smartphone will be able to access any information that is one the computer on their mobile device.

This kind of functionality can especially come in handy when you are talking about potentially forgetting a document or presentation on your home desktop and you need the information while you are several miles away at the office. One of the cool features of the TeamViewer Touch is that you don’t have to leave your tablet’s home screen in order to use it. This particular app can be snapped as a side by side with another Windows 8 application.

The other nice feature of the TeamViewer applications is that as long as a user isn’t part of a large company, the access is always completely free. The company does ask that users are honest about the use or can force payment for the “Pro” application should the company see odd behavior by a supposed “single” user.
