Network switch provider Phybridge (News - Alert) Inc. has just released a new power over long reach Ethernet (PoLRE) data switch family that delivers Ethernet and power over Ethernet (PoE) on a single pair of voice-grade copper wire with four times the reach of traditional Ethernet switches. The PoLRE switch combines unique single-pair Ethernet with robust power capabilities to provide the most reliable platform for IP telephony deployments..

In a statement, Oliver Emmanuel, founder and president of Phybridge said, "As pioneers of two-wire Ethernet technology, we overcame network design challenges and introduced many innovations in creating the PoLRE switch. Simplicity and robustness are at the core of everything we do here."

He added, "Exceptional PoE capabilities, simple intuitive Web GUI, and low power consumption are all characteristics of our PoLRE switch family."

In fact, the PoLRE switch allows PoLRE businesses to create the most robust converged local area network (LAN) topology possible. Businesses can leverage their existing, proven-reliable voice infrastructure to create a separate network path for voice communications, complementing an existing data network while optimizing an organization’s IT infrastructure for voice and data convergence.

Per Phybridge’s explanation, PoLRE is designed specifically to handle any organization’s existing or future real-time voice requirements, delivering a robust platform ensuring voice quality of service today and into the future. Prior to the Phybridge innovation, the commonly used method was the desktop convergence with the IP phone acting as a switch, stated the developer.

"Desktop convergence results in many compromises; customers want Quality of Service regardless of data loads, voice continuity even if the data network fails, a highly-secure converged network, and an easy network to install and manage," stated  Steven Fair, EVP of Phybridge. "The game-changing PoLRE switch moves the convergence point from every desktop to a single point in the central closet, and delivers on everything that is important to the customer at a much lower total cost of ownership."

The PoLRE switch comes in both a 24 port and 48 port configuration and scales to thousands of users. Phybridge will also be introducing a nine port count switch during the second quarter of 2013 to address the SMB and cloud telephony markets.

In addition, the company has recently entered into an OEM agreement with Mitel (News - Alert) Networks whose StreamLine switch has been launched globally. Additionally, Phybridge is ready to unveil another strategic relationship with a global IP telephony vendor soon.
