In spite of the saying that goes, “an apple a day keeps the doctor away,” there is likely nothing that can keep technology giant Apple (News - Alert) away from innovation. Its suite is ever-changing and expanding to encompass next generation functions that no one even knew was previously possible. While the company has been relatively quiet as of late in regards to soon to be unveiled products, rumors are now swirling that three new iPhones will be making their debut in the New Year with one of them being coined “iPhone (News - Alert) Math.”
In a recent article from PCMag that quotes a report from Brightwire.com, the current buzz circulating is that the iPhone Math would encompass a 4.8-inch screen and an eight-megapixel camera. What remains to be seen though is if the smartphone will actually boast innovative mathematical capabilities because if not, why not just name it the iPhone 6? I mean, that model has been used successfully since the iPhone 3G was unveiled and up until the latest release, the iPhone 5.
Whether or not you will able to become a math whiz with just your phone in tow, the bigger picture in regards to the product launch is that instead of just one extremely robust offering from Apple this year, 2013 will instead bring three with the goal of “appealing to a larger user base,” Brightwire.com said. In addition to the iPhone Math, a four-inch iPhone 5S and a still largely unwrapped, surprise iPhone boasting a 12-megapixel camera will be available before 2014.

Additionally, Digital Trends is reporting that the first two new phones, including the 5S and the iPhone Math, will make their way to market by June, while the other likely won’t be seen until around Halloween.
“If, in some bizarre twist, Apple does have a phone with a five-inch screen in the works, it makes sense to give it a striking name. But would anyone – let alone Apple, a company which takes an incredibly conservative approach with its nomenclature – call a phone the Math? Quite apart from the word sounding completely wrong to everyone outside of the U.S. and Canada, it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Calling it out as either an odd, lost-in-translation error or a weirdly creative ruse seems almost redundant. At best, this is an internal name,” it reveals.
What additional capabilities are likely to be kept under wraps for quite some time, some information we do know has to do with the companies building integral parts of the three new iPhone models. While Foxconn and Coxon are highlighted as developing the chassis, Hon Hai Precision will take care of the manufacturing, Largan Precision is in charge of the camera modules (as it does with the iPhone 5) and the circuit boards will come from Flexium, Zhen Ding and Fujikura, Digital Trends stated. It is said that production is slated to kickoff in April.
Red Orbit commented, “Releasing new devices with such differences in hardware so close together could cause confusion in the market. Potential iPhone buyers are already accustomed to holding off on their upgrades until the newest release. It’s likely Apple would only stand to lose by releasing three phones within a span of six months, angering both customers and developers.”
It looks like for now we will just have to wait and see how big of a slice of steaming hot apple pie the technology trendsetter stands to take when its developing products finally are released. Chances are likely however that you will still need to brush up on your math skills as much as possible.
