Do You Have $99, No Valentine's Day Gift and a Pet-Loving Sweetie? This Website's got You Covered

Or does it? There are only a few hours left of this year’s Valentine’s Day. Do you have a gift for your significant other or person you want to shower with affection and appreciation? If you don’t and you’re looking for something creative and never-been-done-before, one mail order subscription service is claiming to have you covered – that is, if the person you’re buying for loves kittens.

KonstantKitten.com is a website that supposedly sends you a non-stop amount of kittens fresh for the picking. The site explains, “Every three months we will replace your kitten with a brand new one so that you can have the joy and youthfulness of a kitten for as long as you retain our service.” So you can essentially get a kitten and never have to deal with it getting old, spoiled and grumpy.

The kitten comes completely potty-trained, healthy and fully updated on all of its vaccinations, the site clarifies. If you’ve got $99 to spend, you can get a kitten aged nine months to one year for one full month, described by the site as a “mature kitten” that is “still loving & playful.”

As it turns out, the kitten swapping business is a lucrative one. The rest of its pricing is as follows:

While this may seem like a steep pricing point, all plans come complete with a three-month supply of litter and kitten food for each kitten.

We’ve heard of tons of mail order subscriptions in the past, such as Birchbox and Walmart’s version called “Goodies,” but this seems to be the first living, breathing kind. Birchbox, an e-retail company, dove into the subscription commerce space with its assorted cosmetics and beauty products for women delivered on a monthly basis. “We’re trying to redefine the rules of retail,” commented Birchbox co-founder Katie Beauchamp at the time in one report.

Walmart’s “Goodies” similarly ships food at a fixed monthly fee full of sample-sized items, which users can then purchase in greater amounts online, one report covered late last year. “The whole idea is around discovery,” commented VP of Products at Walmart, Ravi Raj, at the time. “We want to introduce you to new types of food that you haven’t heard of before, not things you’d find at most mainstream stores.”

What do you think of this unique mail subscription service…crazy, cute, or totally a hoax? We did some poking around the Web and it seems you cannot actually order from the site and a number of animal lovers are outraged. If you really are looking to awe your loved one with a pet stop by your local animal shelter and pick up an awesome adoptable pet who needs a good home.
