Twitter (News - Alert) has announced it has decided to release an update for its popular TweetDeck App. The new update will affect its Web and Chrome apps and will offer a set of column filters to allow users to discover better content easily.

“Today we’re releasing a powerful set of column filters for the TweetDeck Web and Chrome apps. These allow you to show or exclude specific words and phrases from a TweetDeck column –– especially useful when you want to focus on a particular element of a column,” the company said in a blog post.

The four column filters will feature a Showing, Matching, Excluding and Retweet drop down menus. In the “Showing” drop down menu, users will have an array of filters to chose from that include Tweets, Tweets with images, with video, with any media or links.

“You can also choose to view only Tweets that contain media (images and/or video). This turns any of your existing columns into a media column, making it very easy to scan content and find what you’re looking for,” the blog post added.

In the “Matching” filter, users will be able to enter specific words to find any and all tweets that obviously match with the specific keyword. The “Excluding” feature will do exactly as its name implies, excluding any tweets with the given keyword. Simple enough.

The “Retweet” filter will allow users to decide whether they want to include a Retweet in their search, or exclude a Retweet and solely search for original content.

Twitter has seemed to be making the news as of late, and not always in a positive light. It started two weeks when the company announced 250,000 of its users accounts had been hacked by a sophisticated attack. The news continued this morning as Burger King had its official account hacked by Anonymous. Anonymous then decided to make a few modifications to Burger kings profile and Tweet as if it was McDonalds.
