Only a few months ago, the latest creation from EyeSight was revealed, enabling users to operate from a virtual world with a new technology development. Even more, they were enabled to control their mobile devices with a virtual touch, essentially eliminating what we would consider the traditional mouse. However now, I.R.I.S. has developed an innovative mouse design that makes users think twice before ditching it for a virtual finger touch.
I.R.I.S., a developer and provider of intelligent document recognition technology, has developed the IRIScan Mouse, which has made the act of document scanning even simpler and more detailed than ever. Check out the video below to see how it works.
The way it works is simple; all a user has to do is hold down the scanning button and glide the mouse over the area that they want to scan – whether it is a photo, book or newspaper. As the user moves the mouse back and forth, the image will begin to appear on the screen, where they are then able to drag and drop the text or image into their desired applications for editing. Although this type of scanning wouldn’t make sense for a user that has to scan hundreds of documents a day it, can be useful for those who are writing an article or press release and want to include text or photos from information they have at hand.
Innovative Developments has created a mouse with multipurpose features with the Mycestro, a 3D wearable mouse. This wireless mouse can be worn on user’s index fingers and uses a gyroscope to track positioning in 3D space, then translating that to the 2D screen through an app or functions like tap-to-click, through a built-in accelerometer. The wireless mouse can be used across a landscape of areas, increasing safety and efficiency simultaneously. Engineers who use 3D software such as Pro-E can now manipulate their 3D objects through hand motions and can even zoom in and out by moving their arm inward and outward.
Although the IRIScan mouse does not possess the same technological advancements like Mycestro’s, which seem to give off some type of magical power, it shows how companies are trying to create more than one purpose for a single product. Just how organizations are trying to create multimedia apps in hopes of retaining the attention of a social media user, simple devices like the mouse are being transformed to meet these same demands from users.
