A new study indicates that 68 percent of IT decision-makers at companies with 500 or more employees have experimented with AIOps tools. And 73 percent are using AIOps to get greater insights into system alerts.
These decision-makers consider automation (74 percent); expedited mean-time-to- resolution (66 percent); and anomaly detection (58 percent) as the three primary drivers of AIOps adoption.
Survey participant views varied on the most important aspects of AIOps solutions. Sixty-three percent said ease of deployment and orchestration are most important. Sixty-two percent answered intelligence, or knowledge capture. Fifty-three percent said consumability via dashboards. And 40 percent said support for hybrid cloud environments.
OpsRamp commissioned the study. Gartner (News - Alert) conducted it. The research firm surveyed 120 IT decision makers as part of the effort.
Survey data about system alerts indicated that 51 percent said as many as half of incidents are recurring. And 48 percent said their current alert volumes are too noisy, too high, or both.
“The survey data matches what we’re hearing from customers,” said Mahesh Ramachandran, vice president of product management at OpsRamp. “Enterprise IT operations professionals are overwhelmed with alerts. And they’re challenged to distinguish between legitimate signals and loud but harmless noise. We know from the survey data that even a relatively small reduction – up to 25 percent – in the number of alerts received by IT operations teams would be considered a success in terms of a company’s AIOps strategy.
