Government Employee in Philippines Posts Fake Photoshop Image on Facebook of Officials Inspecting Typhoon Ravaged Manila Bay

By

The Associated Press reports that the Southeast Asian country of Philippines continues to be battered by monsoon rains and typhoons. In fact, on Saturday, a second typhoon in a week brought more havoc to the region that was still recovering from rains and storms that hit the Northern part of the country only few days ago. This brought more deaths and misery to the people of northern Philippines.

In the midst of this disaster, an employee of the Philippines government was busy faking an image to show to the world that some employees were risking their lives to save others.

The Associated Press reports that this employee, name not known or identity not given, posted a fake image on Facebook of three senior officials inspecting the typhoon-ravaged Manila Bay.

As per the Associated Press report, the photoshopped image was discovered last week by a blogger. And since then it has become a sensation in the social media circle. In fact, some other bloggers have mocked the Department of Public Works and Highways by making more fake images of the three officials standing in the "Last Supper" and some other iconic paintings and movie posters.

For this action, the Department Secretary Rogelio Singson has apologized. He said, according to Associated Press report, the officials did, in fact, inspect the damage in Manila Bay. But, had no knowledge that a fake image of the situation was posted on Facebook page. Presidential spokesman Ricky Carandang said on Monday that the "overeager employee" who took it upon himself to put it out was suspended. No further details were provided.
