DevCon5: RIM to Show Power of HTML5 Applications and Ease-of-Development on the BlackBerry PlayBook

NORWALK, Conn. --(Business Wire)--

TMC (News - Alert) and Crossfire Media, organizers of DevCon5-HTML5 Developers and Designers Conference, announced today that diamond sponsor Research In Motion (RIM) will be showing developers the power of HTML5 applications and ease-of-development on the BlackBerry (News - Alert)® PlayBook. As part of the conference activities, which runs December 7-8, 2011 in Santa Clara, California, developers will be invited to submit their HTML5 app for the BlackBerry PlayBook.

RIM will be in attendance for the entire conference, educating attendees on the BlackBerry PlayBook OS and showcasing its HTML5/WebWorks tool for developing apps that can run across the BlackBerry PlayBook and current and future BlackBerry smartphones. The first 200 developers that bring their BlackBerry PlayBook web app (on a USB drive) to the RIM booth will receive a BlackBerry PlayBook. Members of RIM's Developer Relations team will be onsite including at the BlackBerry App Express event (RIM Suite, Wednesday, December 7, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm) to help developers package their application, and to provide additional training and education for attendees who want to learn more about the BlackBerry PlayBook.

The BlackBerry PlayBook offer is for registered attendees only. To be eligible for the offer, register for DevCon5.

"The BlackBerry PlayBook is a powerful device that stands out in the marketplace, complete with superior navigation and multi-tasking capabilities-we're thrilled to work with RIM to not only showcase the BlackBerry PlayBook, but to invite attendees to show off their talents at the event," said DevCon5 producer Carl Ford (News - Alert), of Crossfire Media.
