Symantec revenues, net profit change little in Q2 [New Vision (Uganda)]


(New Vision (Uganda) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Security software group Symantec said revenues for its second quarter of fiscal 2015 went 1 percent lower year-on-year to USD 1.61 billion while the net profit lifted 1 percent to USD 244 million. Diluted earnings per share went to USD 0.35 from 0.34. CEO Michael Brown said the company was pleased with growth at enterprise endpoint security and data loss prevention while at netBackup appliances, sales growth went to 45 percent year-on-year from 35 percent in the previous quarter.



For the fourth quarter, the company is guiding for revenues at USD 1.650-1.690 billion and EPS at USD 0.31-0.34, at expected forex rates. For fiscal 2015, the company expects revenues at USD 6.600-6.680 billion and EPS 1.31-1.36, at expected forex rates.

The company said that its previously announced plans to split will not change go-to-market capabilities for the remainder of the year. Meanwhile, dedicated teams are managing the process, with a view to minimizing disruption.
