Today’s businesses are dealing with rapidly changing and largely unpredictable IT demands, requiring an infrastructure that allows them to respond more quickly and succinctly to customer needs.

Dell (News - Alert) this week announced its release of new enterprise products aimed to help customers deliver results faster. The 26-year-old PC maker, which went on a global, three-city tour this week, is apparently turning its focus on enterprise customers, growing its enterprise server, storage and networking services.

With this announcement, Dell said the company is “delivering an end-to-end IT platform that raises the bar on customer-centric innovation which provides simplified management, increased performance and superior long term value.”

“Within the context of a $3 trillion global market in information technology, consumer is $250 billion,” said CEO Michael Dell. “The commercial business is $2.75 trillion. We tend to focus more on that.”

Dell is apparently answering the call of its enterprise customers who have been looking for high-performance infrastructure that is easy to manage and helps them quickly deliver services, according to Brad Anderson, president of Enterprise Solutions Group at Dell.

Anderson said Dell was able to better focus on the needs of its enterprise customers through such acquisitions of Force 10, and “customer-centric” engineering of its new 12th Generation PowerEdge servers and storage platforms.

“When combined with the second generation of embedded systems management in our servers, Dell is delivering one of the most robust and easy-to-manage datacenter infrastructures in the industry,” Anderson said in a company statement.

Dell unveiled its 12th Generation blade, rack and tower PowerEdge servers, which were built with input from more than 7,700 customer conversations in 17 countries, focusing on their needs for innovation to deliver business results faster, according to Anderson.

The Round Rock, Texas-based company continues to invest significantly in its enterprise capabilities as an enterprise IT solutions vendor, according to Matt Eastwood, group vice president, of IDC (News - Alert).

“We’re seeing the next big push from Dell as it focuses on solving its customers’ biggest pain points by delivering design innovation and operational efficiency for data centers of all sizes. Dell has optimized its entire portfolio of PowerEdge servers to address the most demanding workloads and to seamlessly scale from small businesses to its largest enterprise customers,” Eastwood said.

Company officials did not release an availability date of the servers, but said they will be available “in the near future.”

“As an industry leader for automated systems management solutions, Dell has already shipped millions of servers with these robust enterprise capabilities embedded. And with the technology advancements that Dell unveiled today across storage, networking, virtualization, data integration and computing, it’s clear that the company is laser focused on growing its share of the enterprise market,” Eastwood added.

In terms of product availability, the Dell EqualLogic PS6110 and Dell EqualLogic PS4110 Series storage arrays are available now. Dell Quickstart Data Warehouse Appliance, which is now in beta, and vStart for Dell Private cloud will be available in Q2. Company officials said both Dell Desktop Virtualization Solutions and Dell Networking 10GbE solutions are available today.
