Basho Technologies, a provider of highly-available, distributed data store technologies, has joined the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA), a not-for-profit global organization that is comprised of around400 member companies.

The membership allows the company to become a voting member of the Cloud Storage Initiative (CSI) that represents a collective effort of industry leaders committed to driving the growth and success of the emerging cloud storage market.

"We are excited to have Basho join SNIA and our Cloud Storage Initiative," said Wayne M. Adams, chairman of SNIA's board of directors, in a statement.

"Basho's focus on low-latency, high-performance database technology for Web and mobile applications will provide an excellent addition to our growing list of SNIA member companies. We look forward to Basho's contributions to advance SNIA cloud standards, best practices and education for the global cloud storage community," Adams added.

Basho Technologies looks forward to working with SNIA and expects that the work with SNIA can positively affect the enterprise IT community.

The CSI focuses on the delivery of data storage as a service in private, hybrid, and public scopes. The initiative promotes awareness of cloud storage through education efforts for the vendor and user communities. The group is also helping to bring specifications and technical developments to international standards development organizations.

"Basho is pleased to participate in SNIA and the Cloud Storage Initiative," said Justin Sheehy, chief technology officer at Basho. "Basho understands the value of SNIA's mission to promote confidence in new storage architectures through education.”
