Further expanding its mobile application development services, Bellevue, Wash.-based BSQUARE Corp. said that it will now support application publishers and content providers across multiple platforms. The company will enable the creation, development, testing and deployment of mobile applications for all major platforms including Android, iOS, Linux, Microsoft and RIM and for all mobile device form factors, said BSQUARE. In addition, it will also provide porting services across multiple operating systems and device types.

The number of mobile platforms and device types in the market has increased exponentially, challenging publishers with delivery of content across a multitude of development environments.  To ensure availability of applications within the growing ecosystem of devices, application publishers and content providers must now navigate complex environments while still managing the customization required for successful cross-platform application deployments. BSQUARE is helping customers develop applications that work on all types of hardware and on any platform and to port existing applications across platforms and device form factors, said the developer.

In a statement, said Brian Crowley, chief executive officer for BSQUARE said, “BSQUARE has expanded its services portfolio beyond our traditional platform work to include development solutions for the mobile applications market. Mobile application publishers must now support an increasingly complex array of platforms and device form factors to deliver rich media and content.” 

To meet the new mobile application development challenges, the company has expanded its application engineering team by more than 300 percent. Currently, the company is working on developments for a wide range of device types including tablets, eReaders and smart phones that are running on Android, Linux, Microsoft and other operating systems. 

Meanwhile, BSQUARE has announced the general availability of the next generation of the Snapdragon Mobile Development Platform (MDP) for Android, a development platform based on Qualcomm’s dual-core MSM8660 Snapdragon processor running speeds of up to 1.5 GHz.

According to BSQUARE, this new generation of the Snapdragon MDP offers developers powerful built-in graphics, power management and other profiling tools, which, when complemented by BSQUARE professional engineering services and TestQuest test automation solutions, enable developers to accelerate time to market for Android applications.
