ForeScout Technologies Adds Mobile Security Option

By

ForeScout Technologies Inc., a provider of automated security control solutions, has announced the addition of mobile security to its current NAC-as-a-Service platform packaged for managed service providers. The addition will allow for Mobile add-on modules to be placed onto the existing system, CounterACT. The CounterACT system is network access control solution used by Global 1000 enterprises and government organizations.

The company is hoping that these additions to the system will allow its clients to use the bring security to the bring your own device (BYOD) philosophy of the modern age. That flexibility is already appealing to some of the company's current clients.

“As companies face an invasion of employee-owned mobile devices, the ability to view who, and with what type of device, is connecting to enterprise data becomes increasingly important," said Chris Hazelton, research director of Mobile and Wireless at 451 Research. “For IT, which is still under pressure to keep costs down, the ability to slot in modules to manage mobile devices goes a way toward limiting additional training that staff will need. As IT needs to react to the mobile invasion, we see strong synergies between NAC and MDM to control the movement of corporate data across smart phones and tablets."

The system is set up to work with both Apple and Android-based mobile devices. The system comes with apps for both of these types of device, allowing for both device and network level security. This two pronged approach is generally considered to be more secure than a network only approach.

The system is keeping its pricing options equally as flexible, with options for set monthly fees, tiered discounts and on-demand license expansion. The system is being demonstrated at the XChange 2012 / Latin America conferences in Dallas, Texas this week. There is also information available for download on the company's site.
