Google Introduces Studio Mode in Google+ Hangouts

By

Google boasts the third largest social network in the world, but despite its massive base of users, Google+ has felt a little abandoned as many users struggle to understand how Google+ fits into their day-to-day lives.

Google's response is to woo users back to the social network with tweaks and feature updates. The latest has been in the sound quality of the "Hangout" feature.

Hangouts are a flash-based group video chat designed to compete with Skype and ooVoo. Initial reviews on Google's Hangout have been very strong, and Google is smart to invest resources in perfecting a feature that has already been received favorably by users.

Musicians have especially found a home on Google+, using hangout to stream jam sessions for fans. The hangouts can be attended live, and archived for posterity by YouTube, also a Google service.

The latest update to Hangouts is a feature called "Studio Mode," which improves the audio quality of streaming music. The feature can be activated in the settings tab, and the results are instant.

Musical artists Suite 709, which has built a global following using Google+, recorded this video which demonstrates the upgrade that studio mode presents.

The novelty of Hangouts may just put Google+ one step ahead of MySpace as the musician's social network of choice.
