#Election2016 : It's a Numbers Game

By

Unless you have been living in a cave for last several months, you have been inundated with political rhetoric. Both Blue and Red candidates are assaulting our senses with countless commercials and constant campaigning. Whether you are checking your social media feed for the latest and greatest in sound bites or can’t wait for this circus to leave town, one of the greatest rights we in the United States possess, is the right to vote.

One can point to several factors as reasons for American apathy toward politics, but regardless we all have a voice, and whether you support the long shot or the leader of the pack it is critical to let that voice be heard. With rhetoric coming from all sides, it can be difficult to sort fact from fiction and decide which candidate deserves your vote.

Education in politics is an issue, in general. The voting public today simply lacks the proper awareness to cast an educated vote (in general). Technology has now taken the “guesswork” out of the process for you. Enter stage right, Isidewith.com . The website provides visitors with a multitude of resources, but most notably for those flip-flopping on which way to lean, it provides a quiz.

The quiz only takes about 10 minutes, and will, with a strong level of accuracy illustrate which candidate your views align best with. The results are provided in a clear and concise way, outlining where you agree and disagree with the Presidential hopefuls.

More so than elections past, technology is playing a mission critical role for both sides of the aisle as well as the voting public. Inc.com’s Paul Gossinger notes in a recent article, “The 2016 U.S. presidential election will be the most technologically advanced election in history, and most of that will be focused on two factors: vastly increasing new registered voter turnout and microanalysis pinpoint targeting by county to optimize state wins and electoral college performance.” Gossinger continues to compare the current cycle with 2008, “but on steroids because both parties are focused on courting millions of voters.”

Data scientists are feverously crunching numbers to name what’s hot and what’s not, while the American public falls victim to what amounts to a national game of ‘one-ups-man-ship’.  Tech Republic calls the 2016 election, “the first made-for-social media campaign,” and it is becoming increasingly difficult to argue that point. Unfortunately, it is also becoming clear the election cycle is not about issues and has instead become about the pageantry – with gamesmanship stealing the show.

From Donald Trump’s heart dead set on building a barricade to the south, his campaign manager’s alleged assault on a member of the press as well as early exchanges with and attacks on Fox News’ Megyn Kelly, it is certainly must-see Twitter feed action - but it doesn’t help in the way of educating the voting public . And that is just a taste of what has been happening with one of the candidates.

Doesn’t matter if it’s Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders; Ted Cruz, Donald Trump or John Kasich, Americans must make their voice heard. This year’s election is shattering spending records, embracing technology and making a lot of noise along the way.

Stay tuned…we haven’t even reached convention time yet!
