Rdio Debuts Music Streaming Service That is Free of Charge and Ads

By

Can’t get enough of music and feel like without it you wouldn’t be able to live? Today brought great news for music lovers, as MOG announced it will soon power an all new version of its streaming service, further enhancing the company’s suite of music plans that already contains two separate entities—one which costs $4.99 and one costing $9.99 a month. In addition, Rdio revealed a brand spanking new, free of charge and ads streaming service.

A Yahoo article detailed that, as of now, Rdio's subscription plans are very similar to MOG, as you can stream unlimited songs via your web browser for a price of $4.99, while for $9.99 you can listen to all the music your eardrums can handle from either your browser, your mobile device or both. In order to break away from their competition, Rdio wants to redesign its plan and offer it to customers free of any type of charge.

The company did reveal, however, with its jaw dropping announcement, that the new, free plan will only be around for a limited time, but did not add an official cutoff date.

Rdio CEO Drew Larner spoke in regards to the recent revelation commenting in a statement, "We know free is powerful, it's a great way to increase your funnel. But it's about not creating a tier for an alternative or replacement for what would be a paying subscriber."

It is obvious that Rdio is hoping that you love their service so much that once they begin to charge you will not mind paying the monthly fee. What do you think music enthusiasts, will you instead just to stick to Pandora’s limited amount of free songs?
