Members of Apple’s iOS Developer Program are no longer the only ones able to try out the company’s new iOS 4.3. Apple has released iOS 4.3 a few days ahead of schedule for the iPhone (News - Alert) 4 and 3GS, iPad, and fourth-generation iPod touch. The update is available via iTunes and includes a handful of enhancements.
Among these improvements is AirPlay, the wireless technology that lets users stream content from their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to your HDTV via Apple (News - Alert) TV. In addition to music, movies, and photos, AirPlay now streams video from your Photos app. For example, you could shoot a home video of your dog and instantly share it with everyone in the room. Photos can also be turned into a slideshow with a variety of themes to select from.
Another modification: OS 4.3 adds iTunes Home Sharing to iOS devices like the iPad 2. This features lets users stream their iTunes library from a Mac or PC to an iOS device, including podcasts, audiobooks and music.
As reported by TechZone360.com, Apple recently released iPad 2 – a newly designed tablet that’s 33 percent thinner and up to 15 percent lighter than the original iPad. There’s still the same 9.7-inch LED-backlit LCD screen and up to 10 hours of battery life. But the iPad 2 also features Apple’s new dual-core A5 processor for super-fast performance.
Another impressive addition to the iPad’s new incarnation: two cameras — a front-facing VGA camera for FaceTime (News - Alert) and Photo Booth and a rear-facing camera that captures 720p HD video.
So far, iPad 2 is available in black or white, features models that run on AT&T’s (News - Alert) and Verizon’s 3G networks, and introduces its Smart Cover in a range of colors. iPad 2 will be available on March 11, in the U.S. through the Apple online store, Apple retail stores, and select Apple authorized resellers.
