Android 50 Percent Faster than iPhone 4: Browser Study

By

According to the latest data from Android Developers, Android 2.2 has captured the greatest market share – 61.3 percent, beating out both older and newer variants of the popular operating system.

In the meantime, Canada’s Blaze Software has released a report revealing that the latest Android smartphone loaded Web pages 52 percent faster than iPhone 4 running iOS 4.3. The software company set out to discover which mobile browser is the fastest when used on actual sites. Blaze Software performed a whopping 45,000 page loads to achieve its results. Key findings include:

--Android 52% faster on average

--iPhone slower on 84% of sites

--Android even faster on non-mobile sites

--iPhone 4.3 and Android 2.3 not much faster than previous rev

However, according to Blaze Software’s website, “Android’s edge completely disappeared when looking at mobile specific sites. These are sites that were modified to match the mobile user experience, and tend to be smaller and lighter. On mobile sites, Android was only 3 percent faster, with a median load time of 2.085 seconds vs. iPhone’s 2.024 – effectively the same. On non-mobile sites, Android was 59% faster, with an average load time of 2.180 seconds compared to 3.463 seconds on iPhone.”

Last month, TechZone360.com reported on the launch of Google’s new Android Market Web store, which is the new version of its Android operating software, Honeycomb.

Previously only accessible through use of an Android smartphone, you can now go to the Android Market site through a Web browser with other devices, including desktop computers, laptops, or tablets.
